Guide for Authors

Preparing and Submitting Your Manuscript

Everything you need before you submit — what we publish, how to prepare your files, what happens after submission, and the policies your work will be assessed against.

What We Publish

We consider work across the genomic and epigenomic drivers of cancer — from mechanism to clinical translation. Submissions are welcome from any institution, and there are no article processing charges.

Original Research

Full-length studies reporting new experimental, computational or clinical findings. Typically 4,000–7,000 words with up to eight display items.

Reviews and Perspectives

Critical syntheses of a defined field, and shorter opinion pieces that argue a position. Please contact the editors before preparing a review.

Methods and Registered Reports

Protocols, benchmarking studies and Registered Reports, where the design is reviewed before data collection and acceptance does not depend on the result.

Preparing Your Manuscript

  • Structure. Title page, structured abstract (250 words), keywords, introduction, methods, results, discussion, references, then figure and table legends.
  • Format. Editable text — DOCX, RTF or LaTeX. PDF is accepted for review but the source file is required on acceptance.
  • Figures. 300 dpi or vector. Each in its own file, numbered in citation order.
  • References. Any consistent style at submission; accepted papers are converted to the journal style during production.
  • Data. Primary genomic data must be deposited in a recognised public repository, with the accession number in the data availability statement.
  • Authorship. All authors must meet the ICMJE criteria and be listed with their affiliation and ORCID.
